A visit of the Zwinger of Dresden, which is located directly in the city centre, is an absolute must when visiting Dresden. It is beautifully framed by the castle, the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity and the Semper Opera. It achieves its impressive effect through the elegance and perfect balance of its architecture: a masterpiece of European baroque style.
Allow enough time to enjoy the splendour of this imposing building which was constructed for August the Strong (August der Starke).
Immerse yourself in the playful romanticism of the Nymph’s Bath (Nymphenbad) and be fascinated by the gentle chimes and all the fountains, cascades and delicately modeled figurines.
Relax in the atrium which is surrounded by orange trees where you can find even more beautiful fountains.
Another possibility is visiting on of the museums which are located in the Zwinger: the world famous Old Masters Gallery (Alte Meister), the armoury, the collection of porcelain or the scientific and technological exhibition in the Salon of Mathematics and Physics.
