Municipal Museum, Riesa

Municipal Museum, Riesa

For those who want to find about more about Riesa and the region, a visit of the Municipal Museum of art and history is recommended.
The museum which was founded in 1923 shows important collections about Saxony’s pre- and early history.
The museum combines aspects of history with the flora and fauna of the region today.
The prehistoric collection shows ceramic vessels, most of which originate from the Bronze Age. The permanent exhibitions about the convent and manor of Riesa and the GDR and settlement history are dedicated to the more recent history.
The exhibited furniture from different artistic periods, historical shop fittings and an historical school class, which is also used for educational museum projects, are especially interesting.
