Castle Melnik which was founded under the regency of King Karl IV. in the 10th century, lies picturesquely over the confluence of the rivers Vltava and Elbe.
The beautiful castle in the style of the renaissance can be visited at any time of the year. Let yourself be fascinated by the splendour of days long gone. Especially the well preserved pieces of furniture and baroque oil paintings still convey the magnificence of the time in which Melnik was a royal city.
The Wine Museum in the castle will be especially interesting for wine lovers.
For 250 years the family Lobkowicz has resided on Castle Melnik, thereby founding a 250 year tradition of Lobkowicz wine. Come and try the wines of excellent quality established through a long tradition yourself during a wine testing.
A very special grape variety is grown here, which is famous well beyond Bohemia: Ludmilla, named after the saint Ludmilla, Queen of Bohemia in the 9th century.
