A visit of the Luther town Wittenberg inevitably leads the visitor along the traces of reformation. A visit of the Luther House is therefore a must.
It was built 1504-1507 for the Hermits of Augustine, but from 1508 it became living and working place for Martin Luther, who married the escaped nun Katherina von Bora here in 1525.
In 1564 Luther’s heirs sold the building to the University of Wittenberg, and after being used for multiple purposes for many years it became a museum in 1883.
The exhibition is devoted to the history of reformation and it’s consequences.
The visitor will receives an insight into Luther’s life, who influenced religion and politics more than anyone else. Visitors will be surprised by exhibits of historico-cultural and artistic importance, such as prints of famous artists such as Albrecht Dürer.
