This cycling holiday Elbe Marshland and Altes Land offers a wealth of experiences, from cultural highlights to wonderful stretches of countryside that has retained its original, authentic and natural air. Bird paradise in the Elbe valley meadows, the rustic quality of Alte Land, not to forget the national Wattenmeer park will make all nature lovers’ hearts race. The culturally contrasting program is supplied by the towns of Hamburg and Cuxhaven. These two highlights of the north radiate beyond their borders into the surrounding countryside and are worthy start and end points of this cycling trip along the River Elbe. We recommend a certain amount of basic training before setting off on this route.

In Elmshorn, people don't just talk about being close to nature, but, surrounded by the meadows, dikes and fields of roses, they live by it. Elmshorn - Brunsbüttel, approx. 65 km

You should stop for a break today in Glücksstadt. The town was founded in 1617 according to the ideals of the Italian Renaissance. After your stop, continue to the port of Brunsbüttel, which is home to the Kiel Canal Lock. Enjoy a hint of the big wide world and watch huge ocean liners being navigated through the powerful lock and out the other side where they sail on until they disappear over the horizon.
