Archaeology centre Hitzacker

In the archaeology centre in Hitzacker, an open air museum showing life in the Bronze Age, you have a chance to travel back in time.
At the beginning of the 1970s it was discovered that humans had settled at the Hitzacker lake for thousands of years- the exceptional findings were evaluated by scientists and soon after prepared for interested visitors, who feel like they have travelled to the Bronze Age. They can experience at first hand what it was like to live 3000 years ago. The exhibition ''Zeitreise-Leben for 3000 Jahren'' (Timetravel- Life 3000 years ago'') is extremely atmospheric and highlights the interaction of human and nature. The archaeology centre is a museum where one can join in and interact. It shows that history is exciting and can be very entertaining if experienced actively and one has the possibility to learn by doing. Making tools, lighting a fire, paddling a dugout canoe and many other activities make a visit of the archaeology centre unique.
